Falling In Love - The True Warrior's Weapon
Don't take up the fight without first falling in love. It is a dangerous and slippery thing to imagine nobility in the fight against. We must learn how to fight for, which isn't fighting at all. It's loving. Do not believe the ones who tell you "We must do the things we least want to do!""Now! There is work to be done!""We must get strong! We must fight!" These are tempting invitations for a world filled with heartbreak that, in its ensalvement, can only express itself as rage.
Learn how to fall in love with the world. Learn how to make love with the world. To do this you must let your heart and body pay attention to everything around you and within you. Once you have done this, then you must learn the practice of celebration, gratitude and grief. (If your heart and body are paying attention yet you don't learn the practice of celebration, gratitude and grief, you will be eaten alive.) Then you are ready to become a warrior who is in service to Life. It will happen automatically. And this is true: if all this has happened - if you are in love with the world and practicing your celebration, gratitude and grief - your actions will not feel like work, because they will not be work. They will be devotion. Devotion feeds us. Fighting eats us. The ones who tell us to fight are lost. Please do not listen. Listen to your heart. It's the the most efficient weapon we have against the devastation all around us.
"Let the beauty you love be what you do in the world. There are a thousand ways to kneel and kiss the ground." Rumi
